Notion
Connect Notion to a MeDo app: search shared pages and databases, read page content and properties, query a database, and create pages, add rows, append content, or update properties after confirmation.
Notion is a connector: it links a MeDo app to one Notion workspace, so the app can search the pages and databases you share, read page content and properties, query a database with filters and sorts, and create pages, add database rows, append content, or update properties. The app sees only the pages and databases you share when you connect.
What you can build
- A searchable knowledge base. List the pages you shared and show each article's content.
- A task board. Read a Tasks database, filter it by status, and update a task's status after you confirm.
- A lead intake form. Add each confirmed submission as a row in a Leads database.
- A project log. Preview an update and append it to a chosen Notion page after you confirm.
Notion fits when the content already lives in Notion and the app should add a focused front end — a public help center, an intake form, a review queue. It does not replace the Notion editor: pages cannot be deleted or moved, and a database's properties cannot be changed, see Limits.
Build examples
Copy one of these into the prompt box. The first one is the smallest useful starting point and only reads data.
Prepare and connect
You need a Notion account that can open the pages and databases the app should use. No API key or Notion integration setup is involved.
- Open Skills & Connectors in the sidebar and search for Notion.
- Open the Notion card and click Connect.
- Sign in to Notion and choose the workspace that owns the content.
- Select the pages and databases the app may use, then allow access. Sharing a page also shares the pages and databases inside it.
- The button changes to Connected.
Notion's authorization page names the connection Composio. That is the service MeDo uses to run connector sign-ins, so this is expected.
To share another page later, disconnect Notion on its card, connect again, and select the page, or open the page in Notion and add the connection from the page's Connections menu.
If you start building before connecting, MeDo shows a Notion connection button under its reply. You can connect there instead.
Use it in your app
- The app uses your connected workspace, not each visitor's own Notion login. Everyone who opens the app sees the same pages. Keep private pages and editing controls behind your app's own sign-in and limited to the intended people.
- The app sees only what you shared. A page you did not share cannot be found or read. It is not shown as empty.
- Name the page or database. Tell MeDo which one to use, or let the app search by title and offer a picker. Search matches page and database titles, not the text inside pages.
- For a public site, fix the content. Ask the app to show one specific page or database you chose, and keep workspace search for signed-in users.
- Match the real properties. Ask the app to read the database's properties first and build the form around them. Property names and types must match exactly.
- Database lists are pages, not totals. A query returns up to 100 rows at a time. Ask the app to show a page with a clear way to load more.
- Long pages load in parts. Page content is read 100 blocks at a time, and nested content such as toggles is opened level by level.
- Writes are confirmed first. MeDo previews the new page, the new row, the content to append, or the property and its new value before saving. An update changes only the properties you name.
- App notes stay in the app. Review status, assignments, and internal comments belong in your app's own tables, keyed to the real page or row.
Limits and troubleshooting
"Connection required" appears in the app. Ask the app owner to open the connector card and click Connect, then reload.
A page or database cannot be found. It was not shared with the connection. Disconnect Notion on its card, connect again, and select it, or add the connection from the page's Connections menu in Notion. A page created moments ago can also take a short while to appear in search.
A database cannot be read. It may contain more than one data source. Use a database with a single data source.
A row or property is rejected when saving. The property name or type does not match the database, or the property is a formula or rollup. Read the database's properties first and use a matching value.
A change did not appear. Writes are not retried automatically. Open the page in Notion, confirm what actually changed, and only then repeat the edit.
A list looks short. One page of results is not the whole database. Use the load-more control, or narrow the view with a filter.
