Asana

Asana is a connector: it links a MeDo app to one Asana account, so the app can browse workspaces and projects, search tasks, and create or update tasks. The app works with the projects the connected account can reach.

#What you can build

• A project task finder. Choose an Asana project, search by keyword, and open the matching tasks with their due dates and assignees.
• A request intake form. Preview a task name, description, and due date before filing it into one selected project.
• A task follow-up page. Review and confirm changes to a task's due date, assignee, or completion.
• A bug triage tool. Record reproduction steps and review a new task before it is created in the triage project.

Asana fits when work is already tracked in Asana and the app should add a focused view or a structured way in. It is not a reporting product: task pages are bounded, see Limits.

#Build examples

#Prepare and connect

You need an Asana account that can already see the project the app should use. No personal access token or Asana app registration is involved.

1. Open Skills & Connectors in the sidebar and search for Asana.
2. Open the Asana card and click Connect.
3. Sign in to Asana and approve the access MeDo asks for.
4. The button changes to Connected.

If you start building before connecting, MeDo shows an Asana connection button under its reply. You can connect there instead.

#Use it in your app

• The app uses your connected account, not each visitor's own Asana login. Everyone who opens the task view sees the same workspaces and projects. Keep internal task views behind your app's own sign-in and limited to the intended people.
• Choose the workspace and project in the prompt, or let the app offer a picker. Either way the app should work against a project you chose, not against whatever a visitor selects.
• Task lists are pages, not totals. Ask the app to show a bounded page and a clear way to load more, and avoid presenting one page as a complete workload.
• Writes are confirmed first. MeDo previews a new task, or the exact field change, before saving.
• Triage notes belong to the app. Internal notes and follow-up status live in your app's tables, keyed to the real task.

#Limits and troubleshooting

"Connection required" appears in the app. Ask the app owner to open the connector card and click Connect, then reload.

Search returns nothing. Task search needs a workspace plus at least one of: a keyword, a project, or an assignee. Ask the app to set one of those instead of searching everything.

A task was not updated. Writes do not retry automatically. Reopen the task in Asana, confirm what actually happened, and only then repeat the change.

Task counts look low. One page of results is not a project total. Use the load-more control, or narrow the search.
